Meet the Sisters

LaTisha Gasaway-Paul, Teresa Gasaway-Gleaton, and LaTrice Gasaway-Johnson are sisters, entrepreneurs, activists, and the fifth generation of their family to call Scotland, Maryland home. Their story begins with their great-great-grandfather, William Dove, but it extends far beyond him—to a community of formerly enslaved people who built something extraordinary from nothing.

As leaders of Montgomery County's largest Black-owned childcare company, organizers of the region's largest Juneteenth celebration, and architects of a bold affordable housing initiative for displaced descendants, the Gasaway sisters are proving that restoration is possible. Their story is one of resilience, strategic vision, and the unshakeable belief that land ownership changes a family's DNA forever.

The Gasaway sisters grew up hearing stories from their grandmother about the land their family once owned. They heard the pain in her voice, but also her determination. She made them promise never to forget. And they haven't.

LaTisha

LaTisha Gasaway-Paul is the eldest of the Gasaway sisters and the spark behind much of their family’s movement work. A devoted wife and mother of five, she once became the youngest foster parent in Montgomery County, opening her home to children who needed stability and real love. That decision captures who she is at her core: someone who does not wait for permission to protect, nurture, and lead.

In the community, LaTisha shows up as both a strategist and a shield. She fights for Black families, land, and legacy with a voice that is clear, grounded, and unshakable. Whether she is in front of a podium, in a meeting with decision makers, or at a kitchen table conversation, people trust her to say what needs to be said and to move things forward. LaTisha turns pressure into leverage and care into action, making sure her community is not just seen, but defended.

Teresa

Teresa Gasaway-Gleaton is the strategic architect behind the Gasaway sisters' boldest initiatives, ensuring that vision meets execution. A graduate of Johnson C. Smith University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Concentration in Management, she brings disciplined leadership and forward-thinking strategy to complex ventures like the Juneteenth Scotland Heritage Festival and Minds In Motion Child Care.

As a wife of over 20 years and mother of six, Teresa understands how to manage high-stakes work with executive-level calm. Within the sisterhood, she is the planner, the "let's run the numbers first" voice who transforms ambitious ideas into sustainable wins. She builds budgets, shapes timelines, and spots risks before they become problems. People may see the public victories, but Teresa is often the reason those victories stand firm. Through her leadership, the Gasaway Sisters Enterprise moves forward with purpose, power, and enduring impact.

LaTrice

LaTrice Gasaway-Johnson is the creative architect behind the Gasaway Sisters' signature events. Trained at Le Cordon Bleu Institute of Culinary Arts in Pittsburgh, she brings a chef's precision and a designer's vision to every gathering she conceives. A wife, mother of four, and like her sister LaTisha, once the youngest foster parent in Montgomery County, LaTrice understands what it means to create spaces where people feel seen and safe.

From large-scale community gatherings to intimate dinners, LaTrice orchestrates moments that feel both elevated and grounded. Through her event space KOR, she has designed experiences for leaders at every level—from Montgomery County officials to U.S. Senator-elect Angela Alsobrooks and Congressman Steny Hoyer. She thinks in atmosphere and emotion, crafting experiences where memory is woven into every detail, and the Gasaway legacy comes alive in ways that resonate long after the last guest leaves.
